Gesture #01 — Hang and Let It Breathe (30 Minutes)

Gesture 01 hang and breathe
Haste is the enemy of longevity. Coming home and immediately stuffing the coat in the closet is an automatic but harmful gesture.
The fabric has absorbed moisture from the body and the external environment. Closing it in a confined space without letting it breathe accelerates the deterioration of fibers and encourages the growth of bacteria responsible for bad odors. Thirty minutes on a hanger in an open space is enough to let the fabric reset. Wool, in particular, has an extraordinary ability to release moisture and return to its natural shape — but it needs time and air.
To do
Create a “landing zone”: A coat rack or open area near the entrance where garments can rest for 30 minutes before being put away.
Use the right hanger: Padded or wooden hangers for jackets and coats. Wire hangers deform shoulders and ruin the silhouette.
Make it a ritual: Like removing your shoes, hanging the garment to breathe should become automatic. 30 days to build the habit.
“A garment that breathes is a garment that lasts.”
